The Four Editions in Numbers

Every difference in one table. The thing to notice is how little the RTP row moves — what separates these editions is not the rate of return but how that return is distributed.

Read two rows together: the multiplier ceiling and the maximum win move in step. Where orbs reach 1000x the cap rises to 15,000x, because the big rounds come from the accumulated total. In exchange, the quiet spells in those same editions run longer — with total return fixed, whatever is allocated to huge rounds is taken out of the payouts in between.

What Stays the Same Across Editions

Knowing what is fixed is as useful as counting the differences. Because all four are built on the same skeleton, what you learn in one carries over to the rest.

• Grid structure. All use six reels and five rows; symbol count and layout logic do not change.
• Payout rule. There are no paylines. A win forms when at least eight matching symbols are on screen, and position never matters in any edition.
• The tumble chain. Winning symbols burst, new ones drop in and the chain runs until no further win can form. This mechanic is identical in all four.
• Buy bonus price. Where the option is offered, the price is 100 times the total bet.

How the Series Grew

When Gates of Olympus launched in February 2021, Pragmatic Play already had payline-free games in its catalogue. What set this one apart was the balance it struck between the tumble chain and the multiplier orbs — a balance that turned it into a reference point for the genre within months. The appeal was never the artwork; it was the rhythm of long quiet stretches followed by rounds that detonate.

By 2024 the provider had begun pulling the same skeleton in different directions. First the multiplier ceiling was doubled and 1000 appeared — the same game tuned harder. Then came Xmas 1000 for the holidays, where the maths was left entirely alone and only the scene changed. Super Scatter went the other way: instead of raising the ceiling it eased the trigger and shortened the wait. Dice came from somewhere else altogether, born of markets that regulate dice games separately.

What to Check Before You Pick

Seeing five similar Olympus titles in a catalogue can make the choice harder than it needs to be. In practice, three questions settle it.

• How many rounds does your budget cover? Below fifty, it is sensible to stay away from 1000 and Xmas 1000; their losing runs are long and a short budget ends before the good side of the distribution appears.
• How often do you want to see the bonus? If the answer is “often”, Super Scatter stands out clearly. If you can wait, the base edition offers a more balanced experience.
